Intercontinental!

Ok, so i really need to start keeping this thing a bit more updated.. Since our last encounter much has happened in the Whiskas world, the most exciting of which perhaps being a new collaboration with Different is Different Records in Brazil. I will be making a one-minute short to celebrate and promote the release of each of their records in the upcoming months, starting with the fantastic 'Drumcomplex' by Gomme. This is a really exciting project for me as it means i can really go a bit wild and experiment, mess about with any new techniques i may have learnt or any ideas i might have that are perhaps just a bit too far fetched for a full length piece. Anyway, i've started (at last) learning Cinema 4D and here is the result...

Also, please have a look at DID records site and support our friends over the Atlantic!

Chaotisch Serie

This is the final video for Max Cooper's 'Serie's. Its loosely based around the emergence of life from mathematics through chaos. The track is carries Max's trademark grandeur and i tried to reflect this in the video, basically by going a bit balls out, if you excuse the colloquialism. I think it reflects a clear progression over the last year and a half since the first video, really getting to grips at working with particles as well as little tricks for making the whole thing look good which where otherwise lost to me when i first started this trilogy. My research into fractals and natural patterns for this video led me to discover the mandlebulb, which i assure you is incredible - a 3d mandlebrot fractal in essence. Here, http://www.subblue.com/blog/2009/12/13/mandelbulb, you can read and see abit more about it. I just wish i had more time to use it better, the sheer processing required to use it with After Effects meant it was very difficult to control or work with the cameras effectively. Apparently one should use a GSLS shader, but i really wouldn't know where to begin. Finally, i do think the final render above became a little over-saturated but i can live with that.

Anyway, i'm pleased with the outcome and already we are looking at a good deal of online coverage as well as the possibility of it being showed on German TV....
